3 Hair Myths: BUSTED

Ever wondered what is fact or fiction while scrolling reels? The internet is full of hair care advice, but I’m here to bust 3 of these trends.

Coconut Oil

Let's have a real talk about coconut oil, a common kitchen staple that's made its way into our hair care routines. While its popularity in DIY hair treatments is undeniable, it's crucial to understand that what's good for your pantry isn't always great for your hair.

Contrary to popular belief, coconut oil can actually be detrimental to your hair. It tends to accumulate on the cuticle, leading to build-up that's tough to wash out and can weigh down your strands. Moreover, for some hair types, especially those with finer textures, coconut oil can overly saturate and even cause a moisture and protein loss, leading to brittleness and breakage.

In our journey towards healthy hair, it's important to be discerning about the products we use, focusing on those specifically formulated for hair health. So, while coconut oil might be a kitchen superstar, when it comes to your hair, it's best to keep it off your lengths and in your recipes where it truly shines.

Wash Weekly?

What about a hair care habit that's become quite popular lately: washing your hair only once a week.

While it might sound convenient and seem like a way to preserve natural oils, this routine can actually backfire. Over the course of a week, our hair accumulates not just natural oils, but also a cocktail of products, dust, and environmental pollutants. This build-up can weigh down our hair, making it look lifeless, and can even lead to scalp issues like itching or flaking.

Remember, our hair is like a delicate fabric that needs regular cleansing to maintain its health and shine. It's all about finding a balance that works for you. For some, this might mean washing every couple of days, while for others, a little more frequently. The key is to listen to your hair and scalp's needs and respond with a routine that keeps them feeling fresh and rejuvenated. After all, a clean scalp is the foundation of healthy, vibrant hair!

Split Ends, Oh My!

Let's set the record straight about split ends. As much as we wish for a magical solution, the truth is, once your hair splits, the only real remedy is a good trim.No amount of repair can restore their original state; they need to be cut off to prevent further damage.

It's a common misconception that getting rid of split ends hampers hair growth. In reality, regular trims are essential to maintain hair health. By removing split ends, you prevent them from splitting higher up the hair shaft, which reduces breakage and helps retain length over time. So while trimming doesn't directly make your hair grow, it does ensure that your growth isn’t in vain.

Remember, healthy hair habits aren’t just about growing your hair longer, but also about keeping it stronger and more resilient.
